Dublin 1961: The Cushman Collection

Dublin 1961: The Cushman Collection

The Little Museum of Dublin presents the Cushman Collection exhibition

Bringing bygone Dublin back to life in vivid technicolour, Dublin in 1961: The Cushman Collection was a stunning exhibition of photographs of Dublin in 1961.  It was exhibited in Ireland for the very first time inside The Little Museum of Dublin from January to April 2014.

Indiana surveyor Charles Cushman was an enthusiastic amateur photographer who visited Dublin in 1961. Shooting only on Kodachrome, Cushman captured many of the most iconic sights, including College Green, St Stephen’s Green and Nelson’s Pillar. Together Cushman’s images constitute the best collection of early colour photographs of the city.

The Little Museum of Dublin was truly honoured to host this very special exhibition in association with the Indiana University Archives, Cushman’s alma mater, to which he bequeathed over 14,000 photographs.
