By Car

If you are arriving by car and using a Sat Nav, our Eircode is D02Y066, there is no on street parking available outside the museum.

The Little Museum is just a 2 minute walk from Grafton Street with lots of public car parks available.

 

Parking

The following parking options are just a few minutes walk from the museum.

By Public Transport

Luas

The Green Line Luas has stops at St.Stephen’s Green and Dawson St, both just a 3 minute walk from the museum.

 

Bus

There are two public bus stops on Dawson St, just around the corner from the museum, served by many cross city public bus routes.

  • Stop 793: F2, F3, 39, 39a, 44, 70

All scheduled buses on these routes offer level access for wheelchair users.

Taxi

There is a taxi rank close to the museum on Stephen’s Green, Eircode: D02ND68.

 

Airport

Dublin Airport is approximately 35 minutes by car, depending on traffic.

Assistance services are available within the airport for passengers with reduced mobility (advance booking advised).

Accessible taxis and private transfers can be arranged directly from the airport to Dublin City Aircoach Bus 700, stops opposite the museum at St.Stephen’s Green.

 

Train

The nearest train station is Pearse Street Station, about a 10 minute stroll from the museum, and Tara Street Station, which is about a 15 minute walk. Both are served by Irish Rail and Dart Services.

Connolly Station is about a 20 minute walk.

Heuston Station is a 15 minute drive or bus ride away.

All Irish Rail services offer ramped access for wheelchair users. Passenger assistance can be booked for railway journeys (via Irish Rail’s Passenger Assistance service).

 

Ferry Port

The nearest ferry ports are Dun Laoghaire and Dublin Port. Both ports provide step-free access, accessible waiting areas, and assistance staff.

General Overview

The Little Museum is housed in a beautiful Georgian townhouse built in 1778, a renovation in 2025 saw the installation of an internal and external lift and accessible bathrooms, to allow us to improve accessibility for our guests. As the number one visitor attraction in Dublin, we wanted to ensure everyone could visit.

The Famous Guided Tour

Entry to the Little Museum is by guided tour only. The tour is approximately ‘29 minutes’, and it is a performative journey through the history of Dublin, in English, presented by a live guide.

Tours take place in two rooms on the first floor of the museum.

The basement, ground floor and second floor are all self guided, and can be explored before or after the guided tour experience.

Tickets

Timed entry tickets are available to purchase online at littlemuseum.ie or in person, on arrival at the museum basement entrance and gift shop. Advanced booking is recommended.

Entry times are every 45 minutes from 9.45am to 4.30pm (last admission).

Average visit time: 1 Hour.

Key Accessibility Features

Street Level Platform Lift

At the entrance to the museum we have a vertical platform lift that enables access to our basement level entrance. There is a doorbell beside the lift that will alert a team member who will come and operate the lift and welcome you to the museum.

Internal Lift

There is an internal lift on the basement floor of the museum that provides access to the Ground Floor, 1st Floor and 2nd Floor. The lift is available to everyone on request.

Hearing / Communication

The museum is fitted with an internal induction loop for assisted listening, which can be easily accessed by asking a member of our team.

Accessible Bathroom

There is one accessible bathroom on the basement entrance level of the museum.

Our team strives to make the Little Museum an inclusive environment, where everyone feels welcome.

Emergency plans are in place to support guests with accessibility requirements. We are always mindful of guests who require additional support.

Assistance Dogs

We welcome suitably trained assistance dogs. They must be under your control during your visit. They should remain on a lead and wear a relevant harness.

Seating

There are plenty of places to sit throughout the museum and during your tour. A team member is always on hand to provide assistance.

Low Sensory Areas

A quiet space is available on the ground floor for guests who may need a less stimulating environment at any time during their visit.

Access Events

Self guide only

Every Wednesday morning we offer free access to the museum through our Freedom of Dublin programme. You can join a guided tour at 9.45am or you can choose to enjoy self guided access only. Advanced booking recommended.
