I Love Dublin classes

The Little Museum has a brilliant Children's Education Programme called I Love Dublin.  These classes are free to all schoolchildren courtesy of the support from the Matheson Foundation. The aim of the programme is to promote a greater awareness of Dublin's rich heritage.

“I was so impressed with the education programme of the Little Museum that I joined as a Friend. The free classes for school children are particularly important as they give Dublin children a sense of ownership of their own town, and children from the rest of the country a pride in our Capital City.”

Mary Hanafin, Minister for Education 2004-08

The classes are overseen by museum staff along with the school's own teacher/s.  The format of the class is as follows:

  1.  A short introduction to the museum in which the class considers the history of the city – 15-30 minutes
  2.  A treasure hunt, in which students explore the museum and complete worksheets. – 15 minutes
  3.  Class discussion on "Why Love Dublin?"  – 10 minutes

The museum can accommodate a maximum 30 pupils per I Love Dublin class. The museum provides stationery and other relevant materials for completing worksheets. There are bathroom and cloakroom facilities available. There are no refreshments provided, although there are many shops and cafés nearby, and St. Stephen's Green is just across the road.
