Oscar Wilde Fellowship

If you want to gain front-line experience of working in a museum where performance is our product, spend six months working as an Oscar Wilde Fellow at the Little Museum of Dublin.

There is a comprehensive induction programme including a six-module Certificate in Museum Studies, and each six-month Fellowship comes with a stipend of €10,000.

The majority of each Fellow’s time is spent on the floor of the museum, greeting visitors, staffing reception, leading guided tours and ensuring that the operation runs smoothly. Fellows also help to curate events in our dedicated theatre and provide moments of drama throughout the building.

At the moment we are looking for a student of drama – acting and/or directing – who will savour the challenge of improving the visitor experience in a building where performances begin every thirty minutes.

If you want to make history in the Little Museum, tell martha@littlemuseum.ie all about yourself in 250 words.

“Being the first Oscar Wilde Fellow I had no clue what I was in for before I began my work here and I was very happily thrown in the deep end! Once I got a sense of the staff and the ethos of the museum I very quickly felt at home and was comfortable cooking up new ideas for the place. My job is to inject more performance into the museum, to sit in on the already wonderful guided tours and see how to bring a bit more theatricality to them.”

“Thankfully the talented guides have been very open and enthusiastic about working with me to make the visitor experience even more engaging and to make their tours more performative. I am delighted to report that we’re already seeing positive results after just a couple of months. Going forward I will, with the aid of my Little Museum family, strive to achieve recognition for this museum as one of the best visitor experiences in the world.”
